Apply for the Retreat

A 5 day– 4 night backpacking retreat to help you and your partner restore the trust and connection you long for.

Trust After Trauma is a backpacking adventure designed for couples with some backpacking experience who are longing to rebuild a foundation of trust, friendship, and intimacy in their relationship. This retreat is an opportunity to break away from the chaos and demands of life and focus on repairing and restoring your relationship.

This program is all about exploring the ways trauma has placed a wedge between you and your partner, and finding your path toward joy, trust, and connection despite all you’ve been through. Through the natural joys and challenges that come with being in wild spaces, you will learn to be present with each other in ways it has been difficult to access in your daily life.

You will be led by two guides who are versed in the tandem flow of inner and outer journeys and who will support your relationship’s unique path with skills for holding each other’s vulnerabilities well, growing in responsiveness to each other, and being deeply present to yourself and your relationship. Together, we’ll discover the lessons the natural world generously offers us when we choose to spend time with ourselves and others in these wild spaces.

Through backpacking, yoga, meditation, and couples workshops, you’ll have space to reflect as a couple and within community, and feel fully present with each other and the raw beauty of the landscape around you.

This trip is for you if you long to rebuild trust and set a foundation of emotional safety for your relationship to flourish from in the years to follow.

What to Expect:

  • Backpacking: Deepen your sense of connectedness with your body, your partner, and other couples walking a similar healing path as you move through the wilderness. Explore what it looks like for your unique relationship to engage each other amidst vulnerabilities and challenges in supportive ways.

  • Therapeutic Rock Climbing: 1 day of beginner rock climbing to take the healing work deeper. Explore the dynamics affecting your relationship through outdoor adventure. (No prior climbing experience necessary)

  • Camp: Escape from the distractions of daily life and practice presence and simplicity by connecting to the rhythms of nature under the backdrop of an alpine lake and starry skies. Discover what is possible when you and your partner have each other’s presence.

  • Yoga & Meditation: Restore your body and mind through daily yoga and meditation practices designed to help you reconnect, reflect, and return to the present moment.

  • Somatic Workshops: Explore how challenges in your life have shaped your nervous system and the ways you engage with your partner. Explore new relationship patterns that build relational safety and trust.

  • Daily Group Discussions: Share and reflect with others on the journey. Emerge from the loneliness that comes with relationship struggles and be embraced by a community of couples who get it. May you be nourished by the group and be one who nourishes in return with insights, wisdom, and shared experiences.

  • Duo Time: Carve out moments for you and your partner to give your undivided attention to your relationship. Take time to reflect and reawaken the parts of your relationship that have gone dormant.
